Vehicle Emissions Policy

South Australian Government Policy

Legislation relating to vehicle standards and emissions in South Australia is primarily contained within the Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Rules 1999.

Rule 147 within this legislation states that a vehicle must not emit visible emissions for a continuous period of at least 10 seconds.

A recent addition, Rule 147a, the In-Service Diesel Vehicle Emissions Performance Standard sets emissions limits for diesel vehicles on the road.
